Love Coffee? Love Logie!

The Café at Logie Steading care so much about the quality of coffee they serve they felt it deserved a blog to tell you about some of the history of the magical bean and how they go about selecting the best roast.

Did you know that coffee was first introduced to Britain in the 17th Century, with the first Coffee House opening in 1650 in Oxford? Shockingly, in 1672 King Charles 11 tried to ban coffee houses as he felt that they were a source of dissention against the monarchy! Thankfully, he did not succeed.

Some coffee houses in London were known as “Penny Universities” because people could engage in intellectual discussions for the price of a cup of coffee!

The Café at Logie Steading sources its coffee from Inverness Roasting Co based in Inverness and founded in 2015 by Kevin and Heather Donnachie. Inverness Roasting Co is known for its high quality, ethically sourced beans – including a standout Brazil offering.

The Brazilian beans for Logie Café are sourced directly from farms that they have personally visited including Ipanema Farm in Brazil. Team Bean (as they are called) visited to select the beans first-hand. This hands on approach demonstrates the commitment to provenance and quality. We think you can taste the difference!

The beans are roasted to a perfect medium to dark level. For our Logie Café blend, expect dark chocolate, nutty sweetness, low acidity and a creamy finish. Heavenly!

Coffee is always on the menu at the Café – just let us know how you like it! We highly recommend accompanying your cup with some cake! Fresh scones made daily! Yum!
