With thanks to Moray Council and HITRANS, Logie Steading is now the proud owner of a bike repair station! Provided as part of the Council’s Active Travel Strategy, the repair station offers cyclist the tools they may need to ensure their bike is in tip top, road worth condition while on the go.
The Steading welcomes a lot of cyclists, especially at weekends, who are looking for a refuelling pit stop as they eat up the miles on their two wheeled steeds.
While some cyclists may carry a few essential tools along with them, carrying all the kit that might be needed can be cumbersome, impractical and add unnecessary weight. Unsurprisingly, Lycra doesn’t offer many built-in pockets! Thankfully, travelling somewhere with a bike repair station means cyclists can leave the tools behind and hit the road safe in the knowledge that most common issue can be sorted.
The bike repair station offers:
- A screwdriver – flat or Philips
- Torx key set in sizes 9 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 27 / 30 / 40
- Hex key set in sizes 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8
- Flat spanner, 8 x 10 / 13 x 15
- An adjustable spanner
- 3 tyre levers
- A tyre pump for AUTO, PRESTA and DUNLOP with instructions on recommended pressure for your tyre width. Th pump this can also be used for prams and wheelchair tyres too!
- A stand so the bike can be raised in order to work on it as required.
Located in the Courtyard next to the Gallery, it is visible from the Café courtyard and has ample dedicated space for repairs and checks.
With cycle routes from the surrounding area, including Nairn, Forres and Grantown, we are the perfect pit stop, whether you’re training for a cycling challenge, heading out on a solo cycle or hitting the road with friends. Hot and cold drinks, breakfast roll, cake and much more awaits you at the Café and wider Steading!
Moray Council Active Travel Officer said, “We’re delighted to see this bright repair stand installed at Logie Steading, through funding awarded from HITRANS’ ‘People and Place Programme’. The Repair stand will enable lots of cyclists who visit the Steading, as well as employees and residents, to conduct minor repairs to their bicycles and pump-up tyres. Enabling more people to walk, wheel and cycle short distances for everyday journeys is the core aim of Moray Council’s Active Travel Strategy (2022-2027), and increasing bicycle parking and repair stands availability throughout Moray was one of the community’s feedback received. Active Travel helps with people’s physical and mental health, reduces congestion, is an economic choice and mitigates climate change by reducing emissions.”
