We stock locally produced food and some from further afield: we try to minimise the food miles but have to admit to being tempted by delicious food, not already widely available up here, which we feel will appeal to our customers. A selection of what you’ll find in the shop includes:
We sell hardy plants specially selected for Scottish gardens. Many of our plants are grown and propagated from the Logie House Garden (100m above sea level), where mature specimens can be seen.
We aim to have long-lasting plants which are well proven and will continue to give pleasure for many years. We are always looking for unusual varieties of hardy perennials, shrubs and ground cover plants to add to our – and your – collections. The shop assistants are experienced gardeners and very happy to share their knowledge of the plants and gardening in general.
We sell tools and garden paraphernalia that we believe in. The range of tools is small but sturdy and useful – a lot of which we all use in the garden. Everyone has their favourite – some from the Burgon and Ball range, some made by Darlac, and then there the the wonderful Japanese tools from Niwaki – all the way from Japan where the tradition of hand tools is still so strong.
We also stock a range of useful gifts. From baskets, fun tea towels, to mugs, smellies (including Scottish Fine Soaps), toys and baskets, we look for well-made, purposeful products which make excellent presents – whether for yourself or someone else!
New for 2024, each time you put your shopping through the till you will gain one stamp. On your 5th stamp you will receive 10% off the total value of the shop!

The Scotland Loves Local campaign is a national initiative designed to encourage all those who live in Scotland to think, choose and spend local first. The Gift Card is unique to each area of Scotland, and can only be spent in businesses that have a ‘bricks and mortar’ presence in the local area – meaning that spending stays local for longer. It’s a great way to support local businesses and livelihoods. Visit www.scotlandgiftslocal.com for all the details.
Alasdair and Panny Laing stock their Farm and Garden Shop with the produce of their own farm (delicious Logie Longhorn beef), and plants propagated in the gardens at Logie House.
The Farm & Garden Shop is open every day, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., (closing at 4 p.m. during the winter months)
Thank you for shopping locally and supporting small producers.
At Logie Farm and Garden Shop, we like to sell products that we believe in and actually like to use or eat ourselves. You may well see us wearing the gloves or using the tools in the garden. And were you to come into our kitchens on any given night of the week, you would most likely find us cooking up something with origins at the shop too. Just some of the products you’ll find at the Farm & Garden Shop are listed below, with some information about why we have chosen them.
Raised extensively here on Logie Estate. The award-winning Logie Herd produces beef among the absolute best around for taste and quality. Like all Logie Estate meat, beef is produced on a small scale and prepared in Forres; when the most popular cuts are gone, they’re gone! If you’d like to order beef please contact the Farm and Garden Shop. We are now able to send orders of fish and meat to most UK addresses by overnight delivery; please ring the shop if you would like to make an order.
Delicious wild venison from Logie Estate is available in season and when sustainability allows. Sold as haunch, loin, sausages, escallopes (particularly good for making kebabs) and our ever-popular veni-burgers.
Rare/minority breeds raised on a very small scale here on Logie Estate.
Like the pork, the Jacob lamb is raised on a very small scale each summer so when it’s gone, it’s really gone.
The special Logie blend of coffee has been developed for us by Kevin of the Inverness Coffee Roasting Company. Roasted locally this is a specially smooth blend which is very popular with our regular customers. We also stock other varieties including the new Cafe blend used, to great acclaim, in The Café at Logie Steading.
The award-winning Cullisse Highland Rapeseed Oil comes recommended by Nigel Slater and Claire MacDonald and we think it’s delicious too. It is grown, pressed and bottled by Robert MacKenzie on his family farm in Easter Ross.
Jams and pickles are made in Nairn
