Photography Competition

Over the years, some incredible photographs have been taken here at Logie, both by professionals and amateurs enjoying this special place. For the first time in 2017 we invited everyone who enjoys Logie to snap away throughout the seasons and enter our first ever photography competition on the theme of The Essence of Logie. The competition was open to all and the sole criteria was to capture what you see as the essence of Logie.

The Winner

Autumn at Randolph’s Leap by Joss Ward.

Judges comments: ‘This is a lovely composition, highlighting the beautiful colours found around the Logie Estate and the powerful  River Findhorn as it winds its way through the strong rock formations. The light is lovely across the image and the shooting angle is well chosen to show off the landscape.’

The Runners Up

Logie House in Summer by Helen McCartney

‘The beautiful Logie House is a prominent feature of the Estate and this photo captures it from a beautiful angle, allowing the trees to frame the building while maintaining some elements of the gardens to be present in the shot.’

Here’s Looking at You by Liz Stewart

‘A great shot of an iconic feature at the Steading. A nicely timed shot, which has captured character and detail and produced a fun and quirky image of the Longhorn Cow.’

The Findhorn Through the Trees  by Gena Gaynor

‘This is an instantly recognisable view for anyone who has taken a stroll towards the riverside paths. The shot has made great use of the trees to create a window to take attention to the river.’

The Panel of Judges

Our Logie-loving panel of judges comprises of a mixture of professionals and amateurs, including the renowned Gary Murison of Gary Murison Photography (who has photographed Logie himself on many occasions). The comments above on each photograph were given by Gary during the judging process.
