About the Logie Blog

Writing a blog about Logie Steading and Logie Estate is something we have talked about on and off over the past few years but has never actually quite happened – until now. To be quite honest, this new inspiration came about because I decided to go to a couple of hours’ seminar which turned out (to my surprise, I had expected it to be about something else) mainly to be about blogging. Blogging tuned out to be (to me) a whole new world and one that looked quite fun. It seemed an opportunity to give a bit of space to some of the more niche and diverse things that go on here at Logie. And it dawned on me that if anyone was to do it, that person would be me. So please excuse any major blogging faux pas – I don’t profess to be any kind of expert.

The aim of this blog is to be able to tell people a bit more about the varied goings-on at Logie Steading and Logie Estate. I hope it will contain news, information, interviews, answer questions, give you a look behind-the-scenes, provide an idea of what to expect here, perhaps the odd bit of local knowledge or advice, most definitely opinion (my own, I’m afraid), hopefully some guests blogs and whatever else evolves.

My name is Jo. I live on Logie Estate in the Findhorn Valley (which is in Moray, Scotland) with my husband Alec and our three young children. Alec’s parents, Panny and Alasdair, live in Logie House and so we have three generations of our family living and working here (the youngest generation perhaps doing less of the work at the moment). Furthermore, there are numerous people apart from our own family living and working here, at Logie Steading, on the surrounding farms, along the river and running their own independent businesses here too. I hope to be able to show some snapshots with this blog. Nov. 2017.

Update:

Since starting this blog in late 2017, like most things that don’t just completely peter out, it has evolved. I am no longer the sole, or even most frequent, blogger and we’ve been enjoying more guest blog posts, mainly from people around Logie Steading. Different stories and perspectives have brought a new flavour to the posts and while they are never going to be consistently regular, we do all have bursts of enthusiasm here and there (as you will see from the post dates!). We hope you enjoy it.

Jo. April 2020.
