Come and spend a relaxing day making and creating in the woods. Set outside in a beautiful woodland workshop over-looking the river Findhorn on Logie Estate. You will learn a wide range of traditional "Green Woodworking" techniques. Using hand tools and locally sourced hardwood you will be guided through the process of making your very own Shrinkpot.
What is a Shrinkpot? - These wooden pots are the ultimate in pure greenwoodworking. The making process starts by hollowing out a green(fresh) log either from a small trunk or a large limb of a tree. A groove is then cut in the inside of the bottom of the pot and a dry hardwood base is fitted. The pot is then put aside to dry, as the wood dries it shrinks around the base creating a nice tight fit and your own lovely pot!
They are a joy to make!
You will come away with several beautifully practical pots, with lot's of uses. A few examples would be to store kitchen utensils, spoons, pens, herbs, jewellery etc.
As always, my courses are for both complete beginners and more experienced woodworkers. All welcome, no previous woodworking experience is needed.
